Thanks Mark.

I also have a Facebook profile that is very underused. My pet peeves are the quizzes that go round - like so and so has just unlocked an answer about you.

I do like that my friends post pictures of their goings-on so I can keep in touch, although I don't think I've ever uploaded a picture, other than my profile pic that is.

Great Article.

I think the novelty of facebook is waring off quickly. Personally I cant stand Facebook, although i do have an account, which I use to keep in contact with friends. I find people write such crap on there.

I confess that as a writer I'm not actually that bothered by online plagiarism. I think that once you publish something for the world to see, what the world does with it is its business. Having said that, I take pains to credit my sources whenever possible because I'd hate not to be credited in return. All of which is slightly off topic.

I do think it's somewhat cheeky of Google to expect authors to add special tags to their work in an effort to claim it.

I'm interested to hear more of your views on the Me on the Web service.

Google is failing at recognizing original authors and is once again asking Webmasters for help. They seem to care more about getting rid of the scrapers than helping plagiarism, at large. That, unfortunately, is still in the hands of the author.

Fortunately, Google offers Google Alerts and their new Me on the Web service, which seems to be a bit redundant.

Hi Ant,

Thanks! Everybody knows the 1.listen 2. analyse 3. engage - I was trying to put it into a more practical context of how you could use monitoring to actually shape your SM strategy.

I'm based in London, but you could reach out to Emmerentia.Slabbert@meltwater.com

Emm runs our Cape Town office, and would be more than happy to give you a run through of the software in person or over phone

Other wise you can schedule sometime through me

All the best
Mike

Thank you Mike. Taking a look at the slideshow, I must admit you covered quite a bit in your slot. Nice work.

How does one demo Melt buzz?

All the best with your future talks and hope to see you next year again.

Anthony,

What a great write up of the SMWF!

Thanks for posting in regard to my presentation on Using Social Media Monitoring to formulate an SM Strategy. You can access the ppt at Slideshare

http://www.slideshare.net/Mikeander/smwf-meltwater-buzz-cell-c-present-social-media-monitoring-for-sm-strategy

I agree, I would have loved to elaborate on each each point.... next year I will push for more than a 10 minute slot!

Hopefully Kelvin from Cell C gave some strong, specific business uses for social media monitoring

If you want to discuss some further case uses of Meltwater Buzz clients, please feel free to get in touch

All in all, I really enjoyed the event, and found a lot of value... we will return next year to SMWF for sure!

Cheers
Mike
